Traditional Lullaby

I lay in confinement
On another lonely night
I try to escape through sleeping
But the tears fill my eyes
Spilling down my cheek
Across my irritated skin
Like memories cross a heart
It ignites the pain to begin

Once you start, all is lost
Your pride, conservations, and rebellious thoughts
You curse the night for its quietness
The alone time with yourself
There's not escaping it here
And no one who can help.
