Dark - Poem by Myranda Strassman
It's so dark here where I exist,
no one to show me the light of day,
all of the happiness fades away.
The darkness overwhelms my very soul,
the evil and hate won't seem to let go.
I want to break free from these chains that bind me,
forever trapped in pitiful deceit.
The lies you have told surround the thoughts in my mind,
the keep playing over and over,
then I cry.
And yet you won't show me the way out of here,
I'm forever trapped down here.
Defeated by you,
the pain in my heart,
will never fully part.
You will never realize my doubts and hurt,
I've experienced everything that is worse.
Just tell me what I need to hear,
then I won't be trapped forever in the dark down here.
