If You Knew... - Poem by Giselle Miller

If you knew how much I cried
When you ran away for days
Would you hug me, Aleve my fears
Or turn your back on my wounded gaze

If you knew how much I hurt
When you called me those vile names
Would you hug me and apologize
Or roll over, laughing at my pain

If you knew how much I adore you
Would you snicker and make me cry
If you knew how much I cared
Would you smirk and roll your eyes

If you knew how much I love you
Would you try and break my heart
If you knew how much I respect you
Would you further shut me out

Though you are my brother
And I'll love you to my grave
You can never know how much
'Cause I'm just not that brave
