Jewish Wedding In Bombay

Rating: 3.3

Her mother shed a tear or two but wasn't really
crying. It was the thing to do, so she did it
enjoying every moment. The bride laughed when I
sympathized, and said don't be silly.

Her brothrs had a shoe of mine and made me pay

I hope this is not auto-biographical. If it is, I would caution him about alleys, and darkness, and solitary walks. It was culturally scenic. Having never been to a Jewish wedding in Bombay, I could not comment on its veracity as to cultural customs or his wife's critique..

Jewish Wedding In Bombay as a commemorates the wedding of Nissim himself when he returned back from London and settled in here. The poet as a bridegroom tries to recapture and recreate what it happened then when he went to marry, tie the nuptial knot. Of course, they thought of themselves as the personae from the heaven stepping on earth; the celestial damsels. The gala and glitz of the marriage party take us to a different plane of colourful dreaming.
