Shalene Mixter

My Mound - Poem by Shalene Mixter

My house
Crumbled to pieces
My queen I'm unable to arouse

My workers
Injured and lay writhing
This disaster's curse

Life's mountain
Destroyed by a bigger being
A being which always wins

My spirit
Willing to rebuild life's mound
I pick up pieces bit by bit
Until it is once again smashed to the ground
