To The Vocies That Aren'T Mine - Poem by Nicole Ferencz

I'm tired of hearing what everyone else has to say.
I'm tired of everyone telling me what to do.
I'm tired of everyone talking.

It's too loud.

My head is cloudy, I can't think.

You don't know it but I cry.
I cry in the bathroom, I cry in bed.
I cry when I'm alone.

I want to scream. I want to throw something, anything.
I want my life. I want to live it on my own terms.

I've made mistakes, who hasn't.
I'll learn. Let me learn from them.

Let me go, give me freedom. Stop this tight hold.
I can't breathe.
Stop shouting, it's too loud.

A tear falls down my cheek.

I don't like this feeling.
I don't like the way my life is.
I don't like you making me feel small.

You say you care so let me be.

Stop asking questions I can't answer. Stop telling me what to do.
I'll find direction in my own way, on my own time.
Please stop.

I love you but let me go.

I can't breathe.

I know how you see me. I want to say I don't care.
This pain doesn't go away.
I want it all to just go away.
Please give me time.
I can become something, just let me go.

Please...just let me go.
