Upon Seeing Your Picture

It’s a blessing to have your picture nearby friend,
To have left—yet to see-
What I want-to no end.

Away from me a thousand miles
A hundred thousand miles you are.
Yet near, yet close, this photo shows
Your likeness-
So like you it goes!

The smile, the lip, the nose, the eye
Forever caught in a casual pose.

This photo which brings you so near,
Is a good charm to allay fear.
It makes more vivid future hopes;
Less forlorn
The lovelorn woes.
