Want Or Love - Poem by Andrew Joseph Smith

There, sitting detached
The gleam of pearl
Veiled windows to the mind
Glittering, inviting
Many facets of ruby
Flowing effortlessly
Whose dappled banks
Lack only imperfection

What to value such:
That within reach
Save for a wall of paper
Fragile beauty partially obscures
The two in harmony,
A vision indescribable

Therein lies a choice
To attempt to hold
A jewel so precious
Or wonder from afar
Not disturbing the course
The unfolding poetry in view

The Answer?
Lies only with
He who rightfully owns
